Do you sit with your legs tucked under you?
Video Games

Playing video games can be very harmful to your nervous system. Especially the games that involve war or intense competition.

The brain and the nervous system do not know the difference between actual combat or video screen combat. All of the hormones are activated in either case. These hormones are designed to take blood away from the organs and put it into the leg and arm muscles for battle.

The overloading and constant stimulus of the sympathetic fight response can lead to poor dietary absorbtion, increased cholesterol in the blood, eye strain, mental fatigue, mood changes, poor short-term and long-term memory, and Post Traumatic Dissorders. Years of treatment can be the end result in the more severe cases.

We have seen one patient that suffered from a seizure disorder that was stabalized, actually over the summer, playing excessive video games, see the return of their seizure disorder. Our examination found dissociated ocular system, sympthetic nervous system over-activation and parasympathetic with-drawal. You can only imagine what his blood tests would have shown! The patient added over 50 lbs. of body weight, was very tired all the time, was withdrawing from his family socially, withdrew from his friends, became more and more depressed.

We highly encourage only short time intervals playing video games. Days should lapse between as well.
