Now that the nights are cooling off, it is very important that we do not sleep under a fan, or an open window. Our nervous system will be overstimulated with the marked temperature changes between our skin that is exposed and the rest of the body that is warm under the covers. We see a high influx of patients in the spring and fall that will suffer sudden onset of pain in the neck and lowback as a direct result of sleeping under a fan or open window. Please take the steps to change this. Watch the news, as the temperature drops below 70 degrees at night, we should close the windows. Sleeping under a fan at any time is not recommended. The wind-chill factor has a major component in this over-stimulus of the nervous sytem. Resulting in the before mentioned symptoms.
